Obituary of Clarice Mary Welch

Funeral services for Clarice Mary Welch, age 76, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip McCready officiating. A committal service will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Welch, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009. She was a retired office manager for The Bastrop Inn where she had worked for 27 years. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Welch is preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Welch, Jr.; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles N. Smith; son, Roy C. Welch, III; and sister, Adilene Smedley. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Lucas of Bastrop; son, Dennis James Welch of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Buford Smith & wife Dotty of Mountain Home, AR, Charles Smith & wife Chloe of Vidalia, LA; grandson, Troy Welch of Mississippi; niece, Ruthie Cooper & husband Mike of Rayville, LA; and grand-dog, Betty Lou. Serving as pallbearers are: Dr. Terry Tugwell, Trey Heusel, John Landry, Malcolm Tate, T.J. Tate and Seth Keller. Mrs. Welch's family would like to extend their thanks for the care and love shown by the staff of The Arbor House, Arbor employees Camelia and Shawn, and to the staff of Premier Hospice, especially nurses Peggy and Cindy.
