Funeral services for Frances Eolian Upshaw Williams, age 87, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday June, 7, 2009 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Rex Horne officiating under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday June 6, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Upshaw, and was born on October 22, 1921 in Lillie, LA. She married Victor Williams on June 21, 1940. She was a former longtime resident of Bastrop, a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church where she taught 8-year old Sunday School for over 40 years. She also worked at Snyder's Furniture and Lois' Style Shop. She moved to Marietta, GA in 1998 where she lived until her death on June 5, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Williams, a daughter Debbie Williams, two sisters, Lillian Tucker, Elva Upshaw; and two brothers in law Mayo Horne, and Jerd Tucker.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two daughters, Vickie Judy Stringer and husband Jim of Lufkin, TX, Naomi Theriot and husband Fred of Dublin, GA; five grandchildren, Allen Stringer, Pam Stringer Berry, Gary Stringer, Stephanie Theriot Lawson, Natalie Theriot Maffett; thirteen great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Laura, and Jamie Stringer, Kate Berry, Amberlee Hodge, Victoria, Lauren, and Nathaniel Stringer, Briley, Ella, and Graham Lawson, Davis and Charlie Maffett; one brother, Coy E. Upshaw and wife, Fern of Spearsville, LA; four sisters, Ruth Helen Everett and husband Kenneth of Springhill, LA, Larue Lockwood and husband J.H. of Bastrop, LA, Janet Horne of Little Rock, AR, Becky McCullin and husband Mack of West Monroe, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a much loved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Pallbeares will be grandsons and nephews.
