Obituary of Ruby Nell Bordelon

Ruby Bordelon was born on December 12, 1932, in Bogalusa, LA, to Kate Welch and Cleveland Paul Newchurch and died at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA, on July 9, 2009. Ruby was married to Burton J. Bordelon on August 26, 1949 and had two children-- John B. Bordelon and Patricia Bordelon Kuethe. Ruby was saved in New Orleans, LA at the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church under Revered Hundrup at the age of twelve and has served her Lord faithfully since that day, as God is her witness. She has been a faithful member of Bonita Road Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA for 30 years. Ruby loved each member of her family dearly and was a shining example of a faithful Christian and witness to the Lord. She led a blessed, happy, fulfilled life and will be truly missed by many, many people who loved her. Ruby Bordelon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Burton J. Bordelon and three grandchildren, Baby Boy Bordelon, John Jason Bordelon and Travis Paul Bordelon. She is survived by her two children, John and Sharon Bordelon of Jackson, AL and Patricia and Kermit Kuethe of Bastrop, LA; six grandchildren, Christie and Jason Taylor of Murfreesboro, TN, Aprille and Donnie Rhodes of Gardendale, AL, Jenny and Andrew Guill of Council Bluffs, IA, Ellie and Ryan Jones of Baton Rouge, LA, Maggie Sims of Monroe, LA and Hubert Sims of Bastrop, LA; six great grandchildren, Jacob and Laura Rose Taylor, Payton Rhodes, Sam and Amelia Guill and Ava Jones; and many dear friends and family members. As Ruby wrote in a letter to her family, "Always remember, God is good, ALL the time. Thank Him in the bad times as well as the good times. I hope and pray I have left a witness you all can be proud of." Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Bonita Road Baptist Church with Revs. Marty Black and Jimmie Herring officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at the Church. Pallbearers are: Jason Taylor, Donnie Rhodes, Andrew Guill, Ryan Jones, Hubert Sims and Ken Generoso. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Bonita Road Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Bonita Road Baptist Church in Ruby's memory.
