Obituary of Cora Porter Hogan

Cora Porter Hogan was born January 24, 1917 in Jones, Louisiana and left this life Monday, July 27, 2009. She lived most of her life in the Jones-Bonita area. She married Bonita farmer Claud Jones Hogan on December 12, 1937. She worked briefly at the Bastrop Mill, and was a care giver for the elderly, but spent most of her life on the farm. Following her husband's retirement in 1987, they moved to Bastrop where she spent the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Hogan was preceded in death by her husband, Claud J. Hogan; parents, Oscar and Callie Porter; sister, Vinie Johnson, and her brothers, Vollie, Jimmy, Thurman Porter and Newton Shepard.
She is survived by her children, Oscar James Hogan and wife Kay of Frisco, Texas, Mary Mernet Justus and husband Tim of Dickinson, North Dakota, Ben Hogan and wife Judy of Bonita, Louisiana, and Clarence Hogan and wife Joy of Bastrop, Louisiana; grandsons, James, Todd, Dewayne, David, Jeremy, Cody Hogan and granddaughter Amanda M. Hogan; great grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis, Branson, Grace, Allison, Scout Hogan, and Victoria Domino.
Serving as pallbearers are: Jeremy Hogan, Dewayne Hogan, James Hogan, Todd Hogan, David Hogan and Cody Hogan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Justus officiating. Interment will follow in the LA ARK cemetery near Jones, LA. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home.
