Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Lois Little Parker, 85, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Todd Wooden officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Parker passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital. Margaret was born December 4, 1923 in Crossett, AR, one of two children born to Houston and Sweetie Little. She spent her childhood in Southern Arkansas and Beekman Louisiana. She graduated from Bastrop High School and loved playing baseball. There she met and married the love of her life, Eugene "Son" Parker, they made their home south of Bastrop on what is now called the Old Monroe Road. Mrs. Parker was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, and was very active in all aspects of her Christian faith. She was self taught and often played the piano at her church. She worked outside the home on several occasions at the Clerk of Courts office but was mostly dedicated to her home and raising her children. Margaret derived great pleasure in holding holiday functions for her extended family and spent days preparing for the events. One of her greatest joys was traveling to distant relatives homes with her husband, and camping near some of the beautiful areas of Arkansas. Always smiling and engaging, she was both beautiful and caring to everyone. Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harold Eugene Parker; sons, Ron Parker and wife Ester of Moses Lake, WA, Wayne Parker and wife Anita of Monroe, LA; daughter, Sandra Moncrief of Arcadia, LA; sister, Bonnie Gene Little; five grandchildren, Rod Parker of Seattle, WA, Lisa Harper of Bend, OR, Lesley Tedder of Baton Rouge, LA, Tracy King of Arcadia, LA, Dana Bass of Weatherford, TX; seven great grandchildren, Michael and Taylor Parker, Camryn Harper, Jackson and Alex Tedder, Parker and Sawyer King. She had a special love for her nephew, Sidney Little; brother-in-law, Glen Little and many cousins and friends. The family wishes to express deep appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Carter Cox, Morehouse General Hospital and the skilled care personnel at Lagniappe Nursing Home, who during the dark days of her life, cared enough to make her life comfortable and the best it could be. They also ask that memorials be made to The Building Fund at New Friendship Baptist Church, the Alzheimer's Association in Monroe, LA or a charity of your choice.
