Obituary of Mabel Strong Ford

Funeral services for Mabel Strong Ford, 89, of Bastrop are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church with Revs. Roy B. Moore and Ross C. Ford, Jr. officiating. Interment will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Strong cemetery near Henderson, TX. Mrs. Ford, a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Morehouse General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ross Conrad Ford; two daughters, Patricia Ann Garrett and husband Gale of Bastrop, LA, Deborah Kay Brumfield and husband Bruce of Varnado, LA; son, Rev. Ross C. Ford, Jr. and wife Gladys of LeCompte, LA; sister, Melba Taylor of Henderson, TX; three brothers, Emmett Reese Strong of Henderson, TX, Charles Wesley Strong of Henderson, TX, Jack Conrad Strong of Longview, TX; eight grandchildren, Sheri Burns, Tammy Heckford, Toni Harrell, Rebecca Walding, Micki Jolie, Emily Brumfield, Daniel Brumfield, Gregory Brumfield and eleven great grandchildren. Mrs. Ford is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Grace Strong; brothers, Robert Lansing Strong, W.M. Edward Strong and a sister Jewel Weatherby. Members of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Golden Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association. Mrs. Ford had a great love for her Lord, her church and all of her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
