Funeral services for Mrs. Dera Jane Floyd, age 78, of Jones, La are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday May 3, 2006 at New Hope Baptist Church in Jones, LA with Revs. Gary Traylor and Larry Linson officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Floyd was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was very active in the Womens Missionary Union and served as the church pianist for over 60 years. She was honored in 2001 for her many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Floyd and her husband were involved in agriculture in the parish for many years and in 1997 she was named Farm Woman of the Year. She is preceded in death by her husband, E. B. Floyd; her parents, G. W. and Bettie Howell and brother, Ezra Howell. Mrs. Floyd is survived by a son, Chris Floyd and wife Traci of Jones, LA; three daughters, Brenda Martin and husband Charles of Bastrop, LA, Fay Sanderson and husband Lloyd of Austin, TX, Kaye Brown and husband Joe of Monticello, AR and Karen Boone of Hamburg, AR; aunts, Dollie Bell Barfoot of Mansfield, LA, Letha Scharfe of West Monroe, LA, Marjorie Bunch of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Tim Martin, Paul Martin, Leah Murry, Dan Brown, Kelli Sams, Scott Sams, Kathryn Boone, Cody Floyd, Hope Floyd, Megan Cook, Martin Cook and 10 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Doles, Mike Doles, Randy Haynes, Derl Johnson, Dennis Doke, Ronald Boone, Rick Polk, Bobby Abraugh and Charles Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. E. D. Baker, Odell Johnson, J. C. Doke, Rev. Jimmy Yocum, Thelbert Bunch and Jinks Pruitt. Visitation will be Tuesday May 2, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church at P.O. Box 120 Jones, LA 71250 or New Hope Church Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 14052 Kilbourne Hwy. Jones, LA 71250.
