Obituary of Douglas Pierce Duplissey

Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Pierce Duplissey, age 73, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at North Bastrop Church of God with Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at North Bastrop Church of God. Mr. Duplissey, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care. He was a retired employee of Morehouse General Hospital where he worked as a painter. He was a member of North Bastrop Church of God. Mr. Duplissey is preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Duplissey; sister, Ivy Jernigan; and parents, J.J. and Mary Ethel Duplissey. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Duplissey of Bastrop, LA; two daughters, Janice McKenzie and husband Joe of Mena, AR, Kim Shockey and husband Monty of Bastrop, LA; son, Steve Duplissey and wife Dayna of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Versie Harper of Bastrop, LA, Joycie Johnston of Bastrop, LA; brother, Troy Duplissey of Newkirk, OK; six grandchildren, Joey McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Ross Duplissey, Miranda Duplissey, Krystan Shockey, Adam Shockey; one great grandchild, Tyler Ross Duplissey; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Ross Duplissey, Adam Shockey, Russell Mosley and Ricky Johnston.
