Funeral services for Mr. James Len Rogers, 83, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 AM Friday, September 4, 2009 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby O'Fallon officiating. Interment will follow in Stevenson Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers, a retiree of International Paper Company, member of Pinegrove Church of God, and Mt. Gerzim Masonic Lodge, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in France and Germany, where he received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by two daughters, Nelda Musgrove and husband Julian of Atlanta, TX, Amaryllis Blackburn and husband Bill of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren, Michelle Donley and husband Greg, Jay Musgrove and wife Pat, Angie Tilse, Rian Musgrove and wife Teresa, all of Atlanta, TX, Sabrina Ponce de Leon and husband Chris, Roger Blocker and wife Lisa, both of Monroe, LA, Joseph Brown and wife Beth of Salina, KS; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandsons.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Nell Evelyn Rogers; his parents and a sister, Iris Wise.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 6 PM - 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
A special "Thank You" goes to Dr. E. D. Baker, the staff and nurses at Oak Woods Nursing Home and Premiere Hospice.
