Obituary of Vonnetta Sims

Graveside services for Vonnetta Sims, 87 , of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday May 18, 2006 at Christ Church Cemetery with Rev. Allan Eppinette officiating. Mrs. Sims passed away Monday May 15, 2006 at her residence. She was married to Mr. James Wesley Sims for 61 years until the Lord took him home on January 21, 1994. Mrs. Sims was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For 25 years she was the owner of Sims Daycare center on Cherry Ridge Road. She was devoted to raising her children and other children of this community. She is survived by two daughters, Rose M. Carter and husband Johnny of Collinston, LA, Betty Kelley and husband Hugh of Bastrop, LA; five sons, Robert Sims and wife Irene of Bastrop, LA, Charles Sims and wife Litica of Dickerson, TX, James "Junior" Sims and wife Pattie of Bastrop, LA, Donald Sims of Dallas, TX, Jimmy Dale Sims and wife Nancy of Bakersfield, CA; daughter-in-law, Ila Sims of Dallas, TX; sister, Magaline Hayes of Missouri; brother, Jerry Fullerton of Bastrop, LA; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson, Conner Ruffin. Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by her husband James W. Sims; brother, Raymond Fullerton and two sisters, Adeline Pikey and Maxine Gassman. Visitation will be Wednesday May 17, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
