Virginia Lifsey Freeland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the age of 92. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many friends and family.
She is survived by her sisters, Lona Smith and Dorothy Craig; grandchildren, Jessica McPherson Slavin, Matthew McPherson and Jennipher McPherson Spector; great grandchildren, Mason Slavin and Clay and Logan Spector. Mrs. Freeland was born in Crossett, Arkansas and was marrried to Spencer Davis "Doc" Freeland for 70 years. They had one daughter, Judy Freeland McPherson, who preceded them both in death. Mr. and Mrs. Freeland raised their daughter in Koran and retired to Mr. Freeland's homeplace near White Arkansas.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Meridian Baptist Church (Crossett, AR) with Rev. Kevin McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in the Stevenson Cemetery (Beekman, LA) under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meridian Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Herman White, Randy Smith, Walter Moore, Mike Johnson, Allen Jackson and Bill Sutton.
