Obituary of Sr. Rawls

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Willie Fred Rawls, Sr. "Poppy", 70, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Pine Grove South Cemetery with Rev. Larry Walters officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Rawls, a retired supervisor for International Paper Company and Smurfitstone Container, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2009 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Before his death, Mr. Rawls professed his faith in Jesus Christ. Survivors include his daughter, Chandra Lynn Rhodes and husband Kevin of Jacksonville, FL; three sons, Mark Byron Rawls and wife Jennifer of White Oak, TX, Willie Fred Rawls, Jr. and wife Christy of Gilmer, TX, Shawn Francois and wife Joyce of New Orleans, LA; three sisters, H. Jean Mullins of Bastrop, LA, Linda Dayle Burgess of Bastrop, LA, Judy Gayle Nance of Rayville, LA; eight grandchildren, Hannah, Katie, Lindsey, Macy, Bryce, Breanna, Jessica and Amanda. Mr. Rawls is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey K and Emma Alice Rawls. Serving as pallbearers are: Charlie Johnson, George Delamar, Burl McGhee, Jackie Yarbrough, Matthew Rhoden and Justin Rhoden. Honorary pallbearer is Dr. Carter Cox.
