Obituary of Johnnie Lee Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Lee Jones, age 82, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. A.J. Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Bartholomew Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones, a resident of Bastrop and a homemaker, passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 at Lagniappe Health Care. Mrs. Jones was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, she enjoyed reading, doing crafts, and walking. Mrs. Jones also enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics at the nursing home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jones; parents,Cyrus and Nancy Jane Jones; two brothers, Elmer and Paul Jones; one sister, Madge Jones; and a grandson, Johnny Allen Jones. Mrs. Jones is survived by six daughters, Judy McKoin and husband Frankie of Bastrop, Gloria Webb and husband Alan of Bastrop, Mary Ann Fortune and husband Jimmy of Bastrop, Rebecca Meeks and husband Rodney of Bastrop, Barbara Casteel and husband Ron of Houston, TX, Evelyn Hawthorne and husband Robin of Bastrop; three sons, Connell Jones, Jr. of Bastrop, Johnny Jones and wife Nelda of Dublin, TX, Ted Jones and wife Kathy of Bastrop; one sister, Rosie Harris of Shreveport, LA; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Kris McKoin, Jason McKoin, David Casteel, Chris Hawthorne, Gabe Jones, Cody Meeks, and Justin Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be her son-in-laws.
