Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce W. McGowen, age 85, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Ramon Warren and Rev. Samuel Emanuel officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGowen was a resident of Katy, TX, formerly of Mer Rouge, LA. She was a homemaker and a member of Mer Rouge United Methodist Church. She passed away Monday, October 12, 2009 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Katy, TX.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul O. McGowen; two brothers, Joseph Wimberly and Gilbert Wimberly; and parents, Ross and Grace Wimberly.
Mrs. McGowen is survived by her daughter, Kelley M. Sobell and husband Steve M. of Houston, TX; son, Tracy P. McGowen and wife Margaret of Calhoun, LA; sister, Jeanet Trammell and husband Charles of Auburn, AL; and two grandchildren, Samuel Paul Sobell and Corey Michael Sobell, both of Houston, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Sobell, Charles Trammell, Keith Wimberly, Jimmy McGowen, Lamar Honey, and Derl Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Newt Carpenter, Larry Wimberly, Jerry Williamson, Jamison Williamson, and William Hugh Parker.
