Obituary of William Hale George

Funeral services for Mr. William Hale George, age 81, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jo Ann Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. George, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a member of Reily Memorial Methodist Church, member of the Mt. Gerzim Masonic Lodge, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. George was retired from International Paper Company, loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and enjoyed yard work and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, E.P. George, Sr. and Neva George; sister, Elizabeth George; and two brothers, E.P. George, Jr. and Robert George.
Mr. George is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anne Norsworthy George; son, Mike George and wife Rose Anne of Collinston, LA; sister, Carolyn Lucas and husband Max of Bastrop; brother, Tom George and wife Rose Marie of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Erin George of Baton Rouge, LA, Christine George of Thibodeaux, LA, Douglas George of Collinston, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Douglas George, Tim Harkness, Jim Harkness, Paul George, Neil Porter, and Ronald Long.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
