Graveside services for Mr. Jack D. Langston, Sr., age 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday November 7, 2009 at Carter Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Ronaghan officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Langston, a resident of Bastrop, and a retired clerk and agent for the railroad, passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital. Mr. Langston was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinston, where he served as a deacon, he was a member of the Collinston Masonic Lodge, was on the Collinston City Council, and served as Mayor of Collinston for several terms. Mr. Langston was a veteran in the Army Air Corp in WWII where he worked as a flight mechanic. Mr. Langston is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.L. Langston, Sr.; brothers, Homer Langston, Walter Langston, Leon Langston; sisters, Margaret Irvin, Dorothy Watson; and a grandson, Bryan Langston.
Mr. Langston is survived by his wife, Faye Langston; two sons, Jack D. Langston, Jr. of Vidalia, LA, Russell Lee Langston of St. Joseph, MO; one brother, Sidney Langston, Jr. of Bastrop, LA; four grandchildren, Karen M. Brown, Kim D. Ainsworth, Amy L. Dusenberry, Laura Majors; and seven great grandchildren, Steven Brown, Jarred Langston Brown, Devin Ainsworth, Maddux Ainsworth, Christian Dusenberry, Collin Dusenberry, and Andrew Majors.
