Obituary of James Boyce McKinney

On December 19, 2009 James Boyce McKinney went to be with the Lord and reunite with his wife of 55 years. James McKinney was a 85 year old resident of Bastrop. He was born May 27, 1924 in LaPile, AR to William and Onie May McKinney.
James "Bill" McKinney served in the U.S. Army from November 20, 1945 until December 6, 1946. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from the International Paper Company Single Service Plant after 36 years of service. He was a member of Bonita Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Onie May McKinney; his loving wife, Jeannie McKinney; two brothers, H.B. McKinney and Hugh McKinney; and grandson, Jimmy Charles Catenzano McKinney.
Mr. McKinney is survived by two sons, Keith McKinney and wife Pam, and Jimmy McKinney; four granddaughters, Twylia Joiner and husband Barry, Jamie Jordan and husband Dustin, Christy Stephens, and Jeannie Marie McKenzie; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Louise Conner.
He was our blessing and we are thankful to have known him.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Bonita Road Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Black and Rev. Britt Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
