Obituary of Douglas Hughes

Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Eugene Hughes, 64, of Beekman, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Frank Dye officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Hughes passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his residence. He was a retired machine operator from Georgia Pacific. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and an U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Irene Hughes. Mr. Hughes is survived by his son, Shannon Hughes and wife Sherry of Monroe, LA; four daughters, Leigh Hughes of Bastrop, LA, Marissa Boyd and husband Brent of Calhoun, LA, Megan Ouchley and husband Stan of Rocky Branch, LA, Miranda Hughes of West Monroe, LA; brother, McDavid Hughes and wife Betty of West Monroe, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and life-long friend, Billy Jester. Serving as pallbearers are: Ray Hughes, Jeff Cooper, Chad Harper, Johnny Hughes, Robin Green and Ronald Uptigrove. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jester and McDavid Hughes.
