Funeral services for Mr. Don Laing, 63, of Mer Rouge, LA are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Laing, a retired car salesman and manager of the Bastrop Sears Store for several years, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Morehouse General Hospital. He served as a Sheriff's reserve deputy and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his mother, Pearl Laing of Bastrop, LA; two daughters, Christy Scott of Shereveport, LA, Anna Christy Little and husband Tommie of Bastrop, LA; son, Joshua Laing and wife Nikki of Mer Rouge, LA; sister, Dianne McMullan and husband Billy of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Gene Laing of Bastrop, LA, Joe Laing and wife Kathy of Bastrop, LA; eight grandchildren, Dillon Goodwin, Corbin Harris, Conley Harris, Brock Laing, Ainslee Little, Baylee Harris, Emma Laing, Deuce Laing and a host of nieces, nephews and other family. Mr. Laing is preceded in death by his father, L.E. Laing and a nephew, Brett Duplissey. Serving as pallbearers are: Joshua Laing, Mike Goyne, Steve Lowery, Poncho Roberts, John David Barlow, Jerry Goyne, Brandon McDonald and Hodge Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are: Dillon Goodwin, Corbin Harris and Conley Harris. The family wishes to express thier thanks to Dr. Jack Noble, Dr. Clint Netherland, Premier Hospice, second floor nurses, Travis Holley, Bubba Jordan, Jerry Stuckey and Charles McClain.
