Obituary of James D. "Bucky" Diel

Funeral services for Mr. James D. "Bucky" Diel, age 66, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Mark Akers and Justin Akers officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Diel is survived by his wife Cindy Farrar Diel; six sons, Tracy Diel and wife Vickie of Orange Park, FL, Jim Diel and wife April of Calhoun, LA, Tim Diel and wife Connie of Columbia, LA, Shawn Diel and wife Dawn of Columbia, LA, Michael Hinton and wife Joni of Conway, AR, Jeremy Hinton and wife Cynthia of Bastrop, LA; five sisters, Carolyn Renfrow of West Monroe, LA, Brenda Cheek and husband Arthur of Bastrop, LA, Beth Chain and husband Donald of Bastrop, LA, Pam Lowery and husband Steve of Bastrop, LA, Dana White and husband Marty of TN; four brothers, Billy Diel and wife Patricia of Bastrop, LA, Gary Diel and wife Anita of Marion, LA, Ronnie Diel and wife Merle of Tioga, LA, Danny Diel and wife Ann of Bastrop, LA; twelve grandchildren, Kasey Diel, Kaitlyn Diel, Danielle Diel, Austin Diel, Dakota Diel, Sydney Varnell, Samantha Hillman, Harrison Hinton, Harli Hinton, Hunter Culbreath, Sierra and Bruer; great granddaughter, Kadance Skipper and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Edith Diel and brother in law, Ronald Renfrow.
Bucky served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany where, he specialized in fire and crash rescue. This became the basis for a 25 year career with the West Monroe Fire Department from which he retired. Most recently he was owner of the The Old Hardware Fish House No.2, where he made many great friends and touched many lives. He loved hunting, fishing, travel and his renewed walk with the Lord. He also was a dedicated baseball coach for all his boys and many other youth in West Monroe and Bastrop. He dearly loved the game but most of all he loved people.
Pallbearers will be; Carlisle Bridges, Derrick Renfrow, Greg Cheek, Chris McDonald, Eric Diel and Danny Diel.
Honorary pallbearers will be; Larry Bedenbender and remaining nephews and grandsons.
