Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mannie Adelia Beard McElroy, age 95, of Bastrop, LA, formerly of Winnfield, LA, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Atlanta Cemetery (Atlanta, LA) with Rev. Dale "Bubba" Jordan officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. McElroy, a retired store clerk for U.B. Carpenter Department Store of Winnfield and member of First United Methodist Church (Winnfield), passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care in Bastrop. Mrs. McElroy had a sweet personality. She had a smile for everyone that came to visit and always said thank you to everyone including her daughters. She was an excellent seamstress always being sure that her children were well dressed even though money was sometimes short.
She is survived by two daughters, Dallene McElroy Perkins of Ervinville, LA, Johnnie Faye McElroy Lang and husband of John E. Lang of Bastrop, LA; two grandsons, John Lamar Lang and wife Lisa of Bastrop, LA, Bradley Wayne Perkins and wife Tracie of Ervinville, LA; three great grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Lang, Ashton Lamar Lang, Alexis Lenora Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McElroy, is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Webb McElroy; parents, Manumus Alchney Beard and Lela Mathews Beard; sisters, Beryl Inez Morris, Easter Aline Whitman, Mary Ethel Aldy, Doris Marie Beard and half sisters, Bettie Beard Upchurch and Lottie Beard Colvin.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jack Noble, Premier Hospice, and the management and staff of Cherry Ridge Guest Care for their many years of dedicated service.
