Obituary of Ervie Jean (Culp-Cain) Goodnight

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean "Jenky" (Culp-Cain) Goodnight, 74, of Bastrop, LA will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverends L.H. McCollough and P.M. Guice. Interment will follow at Memorial Park, Bastrop.
Mrs. Goodnight was born May 21, 1932, in Bastrop, and passed away on July 1, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was a 1951 graduate of Bastrop High School, and in 1972 recieved her associate degree from South Oklahoma Junior College, OKC, OK. She was a career Civil Servant, having been employed over 30 years. Memorable assignments were with the U.S. Army, at the Pentagon, Washington D.C., the U.S. Air Force at Headquarters NORAD's Space Command in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado Springs, CO, and Headquarters 5th Air Force, in the Philippines, in support of the Vietnam War. Her final assignment before retirement was with the Federal Aviation Administration, Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, OKC, OK.
"Jenky" accepted the Lord as her personal savior as a very young girl at the First Baptist Church, Bastrop. She continued to serve her Lord faithfully throughout her life in various positions of the church's where her husband's assignments took them. She moved her "Church Letter" one final time to the First Southern Baptist Church, Del City, OK, where she remained active until her health prevented.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Belinda Gay Goodnight; father, Ervin Winfred Culp and mother, Lelia (Easterling) Culp Cain.
She is survived by her husband Bill, of the home and her Step-Father, Vernon Cain both of Bastrop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Bastrop, the Alzheimer's Association, or to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., on July 5, 2006, at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel, Bastrop.
Serving as pallbearers are: Raymond Westbrook, Bobby McLoud, Peyton Spier, Billy Coughran, Dennis Akers and Mike Arrant.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1951 Girls Basketball Team, Bastrop, Dr. R.E. Lyon, and All Staff and Employees of Summerlin Lane Nursing Home, who daily went out of their way to provide care and comfort to Mrs. Goodnight.
