Obituary of LeVoe Ireland

A native of Bienville Parish and longtime resident of Bastrop, LeVoe Ireland passed away at his residence after an extended illness. Born on March 13, 1934, he expired on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. He worked as a machinist at International Paper Company, Louisiana Mill for 41 years. An avid sportsman, he loved the land and all its' inhabitants, the lakes, rivers, and streams. Visitation will be at Golden Funeral Home on East Madison Avenue, Bastrop, from five until eight p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011.
LeVoe was a civic minded individual and enjoyed participating as BoBo the clown whenever the Shriner's Circus came to town. A longtime Shriner, he held memberships in Monroe, Commander No. 7, Knights Templar, South Central Shrine Clown Association, Shriners International, Barak. He was also active as a Mason in the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, Morehouse #50, CM in Bastrop, Livingston No. 16, RAM, and Mount Gerezim No. 54, Bastrop.
Services for Mr. Ireland will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Cleveland Street, at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 with Rev. Paul Carter, Dr. L.H. McCollough, and Mr. Johnny Legg officiating. Pallbearers will be Derrick Procell, Josh Ireland Burchett, John Lang, Leslie Towns, Charles Matheny, and Lester Langley. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Towns, Mike Towns, Philip Towns, James Merritt, and George Winnon.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church or Shriners Hospital in Shreveport.
Mr. Ireland is survived by his wife, Annette Breland Ireland; mother, Virginia Ireland of Bastrop, LA; daughter, Judith Ireland of Monroe, LA; son, Garland Leslie Ireland of Canyon Lake, TX; step children, Darlene Procell, Greg Thomas, Tracey Thomas and wife Camey all of Franklinton, LA; grandchildren, Alexis Julia Burchett, Joshua Ireland Burchett; seven step grandchildren and 1 great step granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father, Garland C. Ireland.
The family extends great thanks and much appreciation to friends for the visits and kind deeds throughout LeVoe's illness. Special thanks to the employees of Premier Hospice for their care, especially his nurses Peggy Skains and Emily. Also, a special thank you to his caregiver, Anna Jones.
