Graveside Funeral services for J.W. "Sing" Parker, Jr., age 92, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday September 15, 2004, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Bonner officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Parker, a resident of Bastrop and a retired International Paper Company employee, died Sunday September 12, 2004, at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Parker is survived by his daughter, Carolyn McGuffie of Keithville; three sisters, Sue McKeithen of Bastrop, Bonnie Culbreath of Crossett, AR, and Sarah Wallace & husband Berlin of Bastrop; four brothers, John M. Parker of Monroe, Doc Parker & wife Virgie, Eugene Parker & wife Margaret of Bastrop, Bennett Parker of Pine Bluff, AR; grandchildren, Joe McGuffie & wife Debbie, David Oden & wife Brenda; Jackie-Ann Ware & husband Bruce, and James Oden; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a special nephew & niece, Glen & Judy Roberts.
Preceded in death by his wife, Nona Parker; daughter, Linda Kay Oden; sister, Mabel Alice Wood; grandson, Marty Ray McGuffie.
