Obituary of Charles Edward Terry

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward Terry, age 77, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon "Skip" Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery, Bastrop. LA. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Terry, a resident of West Monroe, LA, formerly a resident of Gretna, LA for 37 years, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010. He was a retired Louisiana Gas Service engineer and a Korean War veteran having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe. He was a graduate of Bastrop High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University. Mr. Terry enjoyed woodcrafting, loved Big Band era music and had played in a band when he was young. He was also an avid fan of LSU and loved the fact he had lived to see the Saints win a Super Bowl. Mr. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, William A. Terry and Alma Halbrook Terry; sister, Arnelle P. Harrison; and brothers, Harry Hilton Pearce and William Elliot Terry. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Golden Terry of West Monroe, LA; daughter, Debra J. Woods and husband Gary of Carrollton, TX; son, Richard H. Johnson and wife Diana of Belle Chasse, LA; brother, Thomas Pearce of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his niece, Janice Harrison Robinson (R.N.), from his wife and family for her very devoted and knowledgeable assistance during his illness. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, nephews and cousins: Andrew A. Woods, Lucas A. Woods, Tom Middleton, James Harrison, John Halbrook, and Bryant Pearce.
