Obituary of Thelma Rose Robinson

Thelma Rose Robinson passed away Thursday, February 18 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. She was 94 years old. A resident of Downsville, LA at the present time, she lived most of her life in the Beekman community near Bastrop. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Robinson Sholar and husband Hunter of Cary, NC, and Rita Robinson Spillers and husband Jim of Downsville, LA; two sons, Kenneth Robinson and wife Gail of Beekman, LA, and Danny Robinson of Springhill, LA; two sisters, Frances Wallace of Weatherford, TX, and Mary Agnes McCoy of Bastrop, LA; and nine grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson of West Monroe, LA, Terri Winnon of Conroe, TX, Sherri Treadway of Magnolia, TX, Susan Perez of Willis, TX, Ryan Spillers of West Monroe, LA, Erin Rogers of Mobile, AL, Christopher Robinson of Russellville, AR, Dana Harrison of Milton, FL, and Hunter Sholar, Jr. of Nashville, TN; nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. A retired school bus driver for Morehouse Parish, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.L. Robinson; an infant daughter, Kay Frances Robinson; her mother, Mary Annie Spriggs; her father, Lawrence Spriggs; two brothers, Raymond Spriggs and Larry Spriggs; and a sister, Margaret Caldwell. Mrs. Robinson was known for her kindness to other people,and her love for her family. Various family members are singers and/or musicians, and she took great pleasure in listening to them. She was an exceptional cook, and before her health declined she enjoyed maintaining her own yard. Known to many as Grandmommy, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and encouraging each of them through life's accomplishments. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Townsend and Rev. Bobby Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Beekman. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Chris Robinson, Ryan Spillers, Hunter Sholar, Jr., Steve Winnon, Jim Treadway, Jason Rogers, Brad Harrison, and Todd Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Robinson, Gene Robinson, Stanley Robinson, Scotty Robinson, and Tony Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hughes Chapel Church.
