Funeral services for James C. "Foots" Griffin, 88, will be at 10:30 AM Monday, July 24, 2006 at Golden Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 5 to 9 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin, a retired saw filer and member of Hillview Freewill Baptist Church, passed away Friday, July 21, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. He was a resident of Victoria, MS and a former resident of Mer Rouge, LA for 30 years. Mr. Griffin also served his country in WWII with the U. S. Marine Corps. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Lee Hodge Griffin, whom he married November 4, 1939; sons, James Newton Griffin & wife Jackie of Bastrop, LA, Robert Drewland Griffin & wife Linda of Victoria, MS, Raymie Benton Griffin of Vicksburg, MS; daughter, Dorothy Marie Vinson & husband Thomas of Shreveport, LA; grandson, Vince Vinson Master Chief USN of Guam; granddaughters, Terry Lynn Votaw & husband Paul of Crossville, TN, Elizabeth Joyce Toney & husband Brian of Simsboro, LA, Stephanie Mitchell & husband Gary of Gloster, MS, Tonya Wilson & husband Jeremy of Texas, Katina Thomas of Vicksburg, MS; step grandson, Richard Cook of Vicksburg, MS; 15 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters. Pallbearers will be Charlie McGough, Zane Graves, Bobby Fox, Wayne Warner, David Cook, and Nathan Vinson. Honorary pallbearers will be, D.R. Mayo, Bob Jackson, and Jep Butler.
