Obituary of Harry Glen Crossley

Mr. Harry Glen Crossley,80, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at his home in Bastrop following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 Tuesday, July 25, at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, with Rev. Charles Hood and Rev. Steve Coleman officiating.Interment will follow at the Wilmot Cemetery in Wilmot, Arkansas.
Mr. Crossley was a retired Morehouse Parish cotton farmer and a veteran of World War II where he served on the U.S.S. Yorktown CV-10 in the Pacific theater. He was a Member of the VFW and the U.S.S. Yorktown CV-10 Association, Inc. and enjoyed attending reunions with former shipmates and revisiting the Yorktown. Prior to his illness, he was a hunter and a lifetime member of the NRA. In 2005, Mr. Crossley celebrated 50 years membership in the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the St. Andrews Lodge #256 F. & A.M. and Mer Rouge #148 Order of the Eastern Star. He was an active member of Barak Shrine Temple and held degrees in both the Scottish Rite and The Knights Templar. Mr. Crossley was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bastrop for many years prior to his illness.
Survivors include his wife, June Crossley; three daughters, Martha Roy of Monroe, Beth McIntyre and husband, Lynn, of Collinston, and Mary Stephens and husband, Gary, of Scurry, Texas; two stepsons, Thomas Taylor and wife, Mignon, and David Taylor, all of Monroe; one sister, Edieth Doles and husband, Thomas, of Monroe; seven grandchildren, James Perryman, Jo Ellen Roy, Christine McIntyre, Patrick Stephens, Annabel Hutchinson and husband, Brad, Thomas Taylor, Jr., and John Taylor and one great grandchild, Emily Boudreaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gennie Bell Crossley, daughter, Margaret, and sister, Mary Foster.
Pallbearers will be James Perryman, Patrick Stephens, Thomas Taylor, Jr., John Taylor, Jeff Foster and James Herbert Crossley. Judge Merwin Brandon will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2006 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
