Obituary of Mimi Jean Stump

Born August 9th, 1923 to the union of the late William Sidney and Mary Elizabeth Fulcher Vosburg and died February 19th, 2010 at Lagniappe Health Care. Jean graduated from Mer Rouge High School as valedictorian of her class, graduated from Normal College(now Northwestern) with a degree in teaching; after graduating in Jean's words,"The Marines landed" and she met and married the late Wayne D. Stump from Colorado. Jean taught in several elementary schools in Louisiana, Kansas and Colorado. After her two sons were born she decided to be a "Stay at home" mom but never lost her love for teaching. Jean loved books and her words: "Next to people I like books best". Jean spent most of her life in Arvada, CO and was an active member of Arvada United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, involved in UMW and in Vacation Bible School; Also active in Eastern Star. She took art classes, learning to paint and shared her many paintings with family and friends. After Jean's children were grown she returned to work at Mt. Airy Psychiatric Hospital in Denver, CO where she retired ten years later. Jean had a passion for traveling to England making six trips, two of those being solo, all to the area around Stonehenge and staying mostly with Jack and Freda Elkins, friends who owned a Bed and Breakfast. Jean was preceded in death by a son, William Stump of Colorado. She is survived by a son, Dr. Robert Stump and wife Jessica of El Paso, TX; two grandchildren, Kim Goede and husband Seth of Wheatridge, CO and Leland Stump and wife Angela of Bellevue, Nebraska; four great grandchildren, Reed and Katelin Goede and Emmaleigh and Korbin Stump; a brother, Sidney Keathley Vosburg and wife Monnie of Bastrop; a number of nieces and nephews and best friend, Ruby Matson of Arvada, Colorado. According to Jean's wishes she is to be cremated, ashes taken to Colorado and buried with her son, William Stump. We would like to thank Jose Garcia, Premier Hospice Chaplin and nurses of Premier Hospice, the staff at Lagniappe Health Care, nurses and CNA's. We cannot say enough about the work the CNA's do and Jean had some of the best. We also thank the therapy team who made friends with Jean and came to see her faithfully even after the therapy was over. The family and employees of Lagniappe Health Care will have a memorial for Jean at a later date and a memorial in Arvada, CO with her many friends there. Did we tell you she liked books?
