Funeral services for Mr. Derwin H. "Huck" Morgan, Sr., age 75,of Bastrop, are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, March 5, 2010 at Bonita Road Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jim Brent officiating. Interment will follow in Causey Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan, a retired employee of 42 years with International Paper Company and a member of Bonita Road Assembly of God, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 26, 1935 in Bastrop and enjoyed bass fishing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Mr. Morgan also served his country in the U.S. Army for three years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha A. Jones Morgan; two daughters, Sonia Garner and husband Sam of Wichita, KS, Amy Yeldell and husband Thomas of Texarkana, TX; one son, Derwin H. Morgan II and wife Connie of Monticello, MS; eight grandchildren, Derwin, Tim, Corey, Morgan, Brooke, Heather, Zach, Cole; four great grandchildren; one brother, James B. Morgan and wife Charline; one sister-in-law, Ellen Morgan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his father, Phillip V. Morgan; mother, Letha Ellen Butcher Morgan; sister, Hilda Mae Schultz and brother, Vernon M. Morgan.
Pallbearers will be; Derwin Morgan III, Corey Bennett, Tim Morgan, Zach Yeldell and Cole Yeldell.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 6 PM - 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
