Obituary of Audie McGee Ferschoff

Funeral services for Mrs. Audie McGee Ferschoff, age 100, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dalyn Helbling officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Ferschoff, a retired employee of the Morehouse Parish Food Stamp Office, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Lagniappe Health Care Center. She believed in hard work and stayed very active, having worked until she was 83 years old. She held many jobs, which included being a dietician at Morehouse General Hospital and Hickory Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Ferschoff was the last surviving, charter member of the First Church of God. She enjoyed her church and participated as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and women's group leader. She also enjoyed reading and sewing. She is survived by her two daughters, Juanita "Nita" Read and husband Paul E. of Bastrop, LA, Jean Bright of Monroe, LA; four grandchildren, Paul K. Read and wife Kathy of Orlando, FL, Cheryl Faye Faulkenberry and husband Dennis of Bastrop, LA, Debbie Bright Chunn and husband Ronnie of Monroe, LA, Robert Carl "Bobby" Bright and wife Susan of Monticello, AR; eleven great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Mrs. Ferschoff is preceded in death by husbands, James H. McGee and O.R. Ferschoff; brother, Arthur Croom; two sisters, Estelle Anders and Ruth Hall and a son in-law, R.C. Bright. Serving as pallbearers are: Paul Faulkenberry, Mark Faulkenberry, Dennis Faulkenberry, Russell Moore, Colby Chunn and Andy Bright. Honorary pallbearers will be: Luke Read, Jerry Hall, Jimmy Hall, Burl McGee, Wayne McGee, Don McIntyre, Jerry Spikes, Doyle Hindmon, Walter Ray Bonner and Bill Ferschoff.
