Obituary of Delmar Gates

Funeral services for Mr. Delmar Gates, 96, of Mer Rouge, LA, will be held at 10 AM Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Eros, Louisiana. Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2006 from 5 - 9 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Gates, a retired maintenance employee with Louisiana Pacific Corp. in Urania, LA., and a member of Horseshoe Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, LA, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gates is preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Carrie Gates; and by a daughter, Carol Sue Gates. He is survived by his wife, Erdell Griggs Gates; five daughters, Wanda Young of West Monroe, LA, Helen Chumley of Ruston, LA, Frances Wallace of West Monroe, LA, Liz Moore of West Monroe,LA, and Linda Sherman of West Monroe, LA; two sons, Chris Gates of Dry Prong, LA, Bobby Gates of West Monroe, LA; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.
