Funeral services for Claudie Lillian Carroll, age 80, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Bartholomew United Methodist Church with Bro. Donnie Bulloch officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carroll, a homemaker and resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010. She was born March 14, 1930 in Oak Ridge, LA. She married Boyce Edwin Carroll on October 15, 1951. Mrs. Claudie kept the books for Boyce's business and devoted her life to making him happy. Nieces and nephews from both sides of their families were made welcome during the summertime. Aunt Claudie listened to them and gently guided them down the right paths. She was always ready to lend a hand to neighbors and her church, Bartholomew United Methodist.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Carroll; parents, J.W. & Mollie Couch Nelson; sister, Ora Regions; and brothers, Clyde Nelson, Wade Nelson, Rollie Nelson, Victor Nelson, and Noble Nelson.
She is survived by two sisters, Kathrin Anderson and Janeva Maynard of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Naomi Reid of Jerusalem, AR, Shirley Nelson of TX; brothers-in-law, Frank Carroll & wife Jo Ann of Bastrop, LA, Jimmy Carroll & wife Sandra of Bastrop, LA, Lindell Carroll & wife Jane of Chaparall, NM; and nieces & nephews, Nelda Shields, Shirley Foote, Susan Nelson, Leslie Nelson, Tim Nelson, Darryl Nelson, Mike Nelson, Billy Nelson, Jesse Nelson, Kirby Nelson, Lisa Middlebrooks, Kim Carroll, Dana Carroll, Susan Hahn, Janice Exum, Brenda Reid, Donna Pack, Vernon Carroll, Stewart Carroll, Larry Carroll, Mitchell Carroll, Robert Carroll, Randy Carroll, and Craig Carroll.
Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Vernon Carroll, Stewart Carroll, Jeff Foote, great nephew Paul Carroll, Matt Floyd, and Scott Bulloch.
