Obituary of Marie Layton Cameron

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Layton Cameron, age 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at First Aposotolic Church with Rev. J.T. Wheat officiating. Interment will follow in Causey Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the church. Mrs. Cameron, a homemaker and a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at LeGrand Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Cameron was a member of First Apostolic Church for over 40 years. She loved gardening and the outdoors. Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her husband, Fulton Cameron; sisters, Norma Lee Morris, Claudine Wright and Vertie Mae Fillingame. Mrs. Cameron is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Barton of Carlsbad, NM; two sons, Ronald Cameron and wife Sandra of Bastrop, Spurgeon R. Howell and wife Lynne of San Angelo, TX; one brother, Wilford Layton of Bastrop; ten grandchildren, David Cameron and wife Tina, Jerry Allen Cameron and wife Cindy, Glynn Cameron and wife Laura, Barbara Lowery and husand Jackie, Dane Howell and wife Stacy, Catherine Marie Burgoni and husband Walter, John Howell and wife Lavonda, Lisa West, Donna Lawson and husband Kenny, Debbie Sanders and husband Curtis; twenty-five great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are: Dane Howell, David Cameron, Jerry Cameron, Glynn Cameron, Hollis Lee Nugent and David Layton. Honorary pallbearers are: Ralph Reynolds and T.W. Rhodes.
