Obituary of James Vernon Wooden

Funeral services for Mr. James Vernon Wooden, age 88, of Bonita, LA will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Wooden, a retired farmer and WWII veteran, was a longtime resident of Morehouse Parish. He passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Elviry Wooden. Mr. Wooden is survived by his wife, Dora Mae Wooden; two sons, Vernon Wooden and wife Glenda of West Monroe, LA, Dennis Wooden and wife Susan of Oak Grove, LA; two daughters, Carolyn Wooden of Bonita, LA, Marilyn Adams and husband Kenneth of Bonita, LA; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are: Jon Hobson, Brandon Glenn, Terry Wooden, Gerald Barthol, Hunter Talley and Billy Wooden.
