Graveside services for Mrs. Bessie Barrier, age 84, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Christ Church Cemetery with Rev. A.J. Fulton officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. till 12 noon at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barrier passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 at The Specialty Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was a native of Pioneer, lived in Bastrop for many years and had been a resident of Philadelphia, MS for the past 18 years. She was a retired secretary/bookkeeper and formerly worked for Jones Furniture Company and First United Pentecostal Church in Bastrop. Mrs. Barrier was a member of New Zion United Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia, MS.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Walker; granddaughter, Pamela Andrews; great grandsons, Shane Cox, Dewayne Cox, and Matthew Cain; great granddaughter, Misty Waller; sister, Gladys Freeland; and brother, Thurman Wright.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Brown Barrier of Philadelphia, MS; step-daughter, Linda Rockco of Foxworth, MS; step-son, Leonard Barrier of Philadelphia, MS; granddaughters, Janet Robinson, Susan Wit, Beth Courson, and Carla Walker, all of Bastrop; grandson, Steven Walker of Bastrop; step-grandchildren, Marilyn Powell of Foxworth, MS, James Rockco of Jayess, MS; 18 great grandchildren and their families; and brother, Herman Wright of Pineville, MO.
