Carter White Freeland, 88, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly. A lifelong resident of Morehouse Parish and a local businessman, Mr. Freeland is survived by his son, John Michael Freeland and wife Patricia of Houston, Texas; his daughter, Margaret Moore and husband Walter of Bastrop; the mother of his children, Ruby Allen; two granddaughters, Pamela Carleton Smith and husband Brent of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mary Ekdahl and husband Michael of Little Rock, Arkansas, and six great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Special gratitude is extended to friends and the staff of Oak Woods who made his last home truly a home.
