Obituary of Artie L. Williams

Funeral services for Artie L. Williams, age 85, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday September 17, 2006 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Johnson and Rev. David Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Williams, a resident of Farmerville, formerly of Bastrop, passed away Thursday September 14, 2006 at Timberlake Health Care in Farmerville. He was a member of Farmerville First Baptist Church. He was a retired pipefitter from International Paper Company. Mr. Williams was the former treasurer of the International Paper Quarter Century Club and on the Board of Directors with Kraftman Federal Credit Union. He also served as a reserve deputy with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his wife, Myra "Pete" Williams; two daughters, Nancy Grant & husband Ken of Madison, AL, Sandra Gray & husband Charles of Farmerville; son, Bobby Williams & wife Terry of Bastrop; sister, Mary Frances Wheeler & husband Joe of Crossett, AR; two brothers, Walter Williams & wife Rachel of Crossett, AR, Jimmie Williams & wife Jean of Jasper, TX; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, Arter & Recie Williams; two brothers, Robert Williams, Henry Williams; and two sisters, Lillie Jenkins and Inez Hildreth. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Rogers, Byron Rogers, David Deville, C.E. "Shorty" Aulds, and John Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be B.J. Pierce, Walter Wren, Peyton Spear, and Dr. M. Stephen Beene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lousiana Baptist Childrens Home.
