Obituary of Mara Alline Bonds

After 84 years, Mara Alline Bonds completed her life's journey on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Alline was born in Etowah, AR to the late C.C. Cook and Gracie Mae Cook.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Bonds and four brothers, Talmadge Walthall, Lloyd Cook, Tony Walthall, and Floyd Cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley McKnight of Pine Bluff, AR; three grandchildren, Vance McKnight of Shady Shore, TX, Dina Holleman of Woodlawn, AR, and Kevin McKnight of Atlanta, GA. Alline leaves four great grandchildren, Jade Holleman, Katelyn Holleman, Gavin McKnight, Grayson McKnight; one sister, Virginia Plumley; four brothers, David Cook, Calvin Cook, J.P. Cook, Roy Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews will also miss her.
In her final days she was surrounded by family, friends, conversation, her passion for painting, her arts and crafts, and laughter. She never lost her sense of humor and awed her loved ones with her grit and determination.
She had a strong independent streak and played many roles in life - wife, mother, grandmother, restaurateur, enthusiastic volunteer, and religious seeker. Our loss is heavens gain.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Kelvin Copeland officiating. A committal ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, AR.
