Obituary of Wayne M. Lightsey

Funeral services for Mr. Wayne M. "Bo" Lightsey, age 57, a native of Bastrop, LA and short time resident of Houma, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Boles officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonita Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Lightsey, a construction worker and member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Hamburg, AR, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 in Houma, LA. He was a member of American Legion Post #51 and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He is survived by three daughters, Aretha Lightsey "Runtsey" of Bastrop, LA, Renee Lightsey of Monroe, LA, Melinda "Christi" Lightsey of Bastrop, LA; two sons, James Raymond "Jamie" Lightsey of Bastrop, LA, Trinity Lightsey of Bastrop, LA; step daughter, Rani Johnson of Bastrop, LA; step son, DeWayne "DeWee" Hawkins of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, Debbie L. Babin and husband Clarence "Buster" of Houma, LA, Starr Ann Boles and husband Tommy of Fountain Hill, AR, Judith Allene "Judy" Harris and husband Frankie of Hamburg, AR; thirteen grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Mary Jane Lightsey Smith of Bastrop, LA. Mr. Lightsey is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin David Lightsey and Willie Jo Boyer; brother, Billy Wayne Lightsey; sister, Charlotte Renee Lightsey, paternal grandparents, Fort Melvin Lightsey and Mary Jane Slack Lightsey; maternal grandparents, Jasper "Jabo" Sowyers and Dollie Lee Crenshaw Sowyers and numerous Aunts and Uncles. Serving as pallbearers are: Shawn Allen Pollock, Dub Harris, Shane Harris, Don Boles, Billy Wayne Hickman and Ronald "Runt" Jones. Honorary pallbearers are: William Harris, Tommy Bailey and Kenny Hickman. The family wishes to thank Hospice of South Louisiana and Mr. Lightsey's care team: Melissa Thibodaux (LPN), Ashley Guidry (RN), Joella Washington, Daniel Blake (RN), Ray Marcel and Aleci Ybos (MSW).
