Obituary of Devon Ellis Taylor

Funeral services for Devon Ellis Taylor, age 12, and grandfather, Randal Allen Welch, age 51, both of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at White Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff May officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home. Devon, a student at Cherry Ridge Elementary and member of White Avenue Baptist Church, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010. He was a very loving and giving child. He was a wonderful big brother who loved his sister very much. He also enjoyed spending time and playing golf with his Papaw. Devon had a heart of servanthood for his church and would often pass out the church bulletins and greet folks as they arrived. He is survived by his parents, Rodney Taylor of Mt. Vernon, IL and Priscilla Taylor of Bastrop, LA; grandmother, Martha Welch of Bastrop, LA; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Taylor of IL; great grandmother, Lurah Fortner of Eupora, MS; sister, Ciara Taylor of Bastrop, LA and half brothers, Bobby Taylor and Jonathan Taylor both of IL. Devon is preceded in death by his grandfather, Randy Welch. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or a church of your choice.
