Obituary of Verda Jeanette Rogers

In memory of a devoted mother and grandmother, Verda Jeanette Hughes Rogers, age 91, went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2010 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care in Bastrop. Verda was born on October 23, 1918 and spent most of her life in Bastrop and over fifteen years in Farmerville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Her Husband, Farrar N. Rogers, her parents and siblings preceded her in death. She loved caring for her family, cooking, gardening, fishing and serving the Lord until her health prevented her from performing these tasks she so enjoyed. She is survived by son, Larry Rogers and wife Peggy of Monroe, LA; two daughters, Betty Sisson and husband James of Bastrop, LA, Amanda Tullos and husband Bryan of Keller, TX; granddaughters, Jennifer Sisson Soper and husband Rob of Dallas, TX, Michelle Sisson of Leander, TX, Laura Rogers of Lafayette, LA, Taylor Tullos of Keller, TX; grandsons, Jett Tullos of Keller, TX, Judd Allen and wife Crissy of Houston, TX, and Tate and Thad Allen, both of Monroe, LA. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Dr. L. H. McCollough officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the nurses and staff members of Cherry Ridge Guest Care, Doctor Carter Cox and staff, and members of both Cherry Ridge Baptist and the First Baptist Church for their tender care and visits that brought comfort and joy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
