Funeral services for Mr. Dennis (D.B.) Stuckey, 88, of Bastrop will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Fowler and Rev. Eddie Rhymes officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Stuckey aslo known to many as Uncle Dick, loved people and never met a stranger. You didn't have to be blood kin to call him uncle. He loved God, his country, his family, and his church. He was a charter member of Oak Hill Baptist and served as a deacon since January 8, 1967, as well as Sunday School superintendant and Sunday School teacher for many years. He is a 31 year retiree of International Paper Co. He served in World War II from August 28, 1942 till January 10, 1946. He was born in Eros, LA on August 15, 1921 and departed this life July 10, 2010 at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, LA from a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Beatrice Bradshaw Stuckey from July 10, 1954 till she passed away November 15, 2007.
He is survived by his son, Jerry L. Stuckey and wife Rita Johnson Stuckey of Bastrop, his son, Charles W. Stuckey and wife Maylu Drinkwater Stuckey of Russellville, AR. Six grandchildren, Tifani Stuckey Rainbolt and husband Brian, Jerilyn Stuckey, and Samuel Stuckey of Bastrop, Megan Stuckey, Logan Stuckey, and Molly Stuckey of Russellville, AR. Two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Layton Rainbolt of Bastrop. One sister, Evelean Morris, and husband Myrle of Monroe, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Bradshaw Stuckey, father, George Leslie Stuckey, mother, Alice Neomi Davis Stuckey, brothers, Ishmael (Sonny) and Travis Stuckey; sisters, Cloteal (Skeeter) McCorkel, Clydell Thomas, Brittie Perkins, and Claudean Bratten.
Pallbearers are nephews: Earl Glenn Stuckey, Gary Stuckey, Dennis Bratten, Terry Bratten, Mike Morris, Ralph Morris and Tony Morris.
