Graveside services for Mr. LaVoss Whitehead, age 79, of Bastrop, are scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. John W. White officiating.
Mr. Whitehead, a retired United States Army veteran of 22 years, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Morehouse General Hospital. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Whitehead; sister, Betty White and her husband of Pioneer, LA; brother, Ralph Whitehead and his wife of West Monroe, LA; two nieces and his special puppies, "Nickel", "Bailey", "Buster" and "Sweet Tater", that were close to his heart and miss him dearly. Awaiting his arrival in Heaven are his two precious puppies, "Penny Girl" and "Little Penny".
Mr. Whitehead is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Leo Whitehead.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Golden Funeral Home.
