Obituary of Graham L. "Jack" Hankins

Funeral services for Mr. Graham L. "Jack" Hankins, age 76, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Garry Massey and Rev. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Hankins, a retired Sears service manager, passed away Tuesday August 3, 2010. He was a resident of Bastrop and a charter member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon on July 25, 1971. He served as Chairman of Deacons, was music director for 15 years, and assistant treasurer for Antioch Baptist Church. He had served as a Sunday School teacher since the inception of the church. Mr. Hankins enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors in general. He loved watching football and had coached baseball for teams that his son and grandchildren played for. He will be remembered as a man that lived for his Lord and his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Fletcher Hankins; mother, Betty Hankins; sister, Kitty Baker; brothers, Fletcher Merle Hankins, Lamar Hankins, and Bobby Hankins. Mr. Hankins is survived by his wife, Catherine Hankins; son, Bruce Hankins and wife Debra of Bastrop, LA; sister, Jeanette Quintana of Killeen, TX; brother, Huey P. Hankins of Monroe, LA; five grandchildren, Britt Hankins, Brad Hankins, Crystal Hankins, Melanie Hankins, Tina Black; six great grandchildren, Blake Hankins, Brittney Hankins, Drake Neveu, Rachael Hankins, Chloe Norris, and Noah Lolley. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Hutchinson, Olen Haynes, Bobby Williams, Jeremy Myrick, David Hart, and John Hundley. Honorary pallbearers are Britt Hankins, Brad Hankins, Mike Avery, Mike Parks, Dennis Riles, and Mark Riles.
