Obituary of Rosco Montgomery

Funeral services for Mr. Rosco Montgomery, age 89, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Eppinette and Rev. Buddy Kinney officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Montgomery, a retired International Paper Company employee, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, LA. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed coaching Little League basbeball and women's softball. His greatest loves were his wife and family. Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Georgia Montgomery; wife of 65 years, Elsie Montgomery; three sisters and six brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Ida Gentry of Beekman, LA, Martha Pennington and husband Lurrell of Crossett, AR; three sons, Henry "Buddy" Montgomery and wife Beulah "Bebe" of Beekman, LA, Gene Montgomery and wife Pam of Beekman, LA, Terry Montgomery and wife Terri Lynn of Beekman, LA; fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; twenty-seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rosco Gregory, James Gregory, Shane Montgomery, Craig Montgomery, Jamey Pennington, and Scotty Pennington. James Frakes and Nathan Lee are honorary pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Oak Woods Home and Premier Hospice for their wonderful care over the past five years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, or Children's Miracle Network.
