A memorial service for Mr. Homer Hilton Herrington, age 81, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Herrington was born June 6, 1929 near Bonita, LA. He died peacefully near Dallas, TX, on September 4, 2010 in the presence of his son after a short illness.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Lee Herrington; two grandsons, Matthew John Herrington and Michael Blake Herrington; brother, Aaron Herrington; and sister, Viola Smith.
Homer worked 37 1/2 years for Louisiana Power and Light Company. He was very proud of his long service to the people of Morehouse Parish. In addition, he also helped restore electricity during emergencies after tornadoes, ice storms, and hurricanes. He traveled during emergencies to several states and worked long, hard days and sometime weeks for those in need. Homer loved the men he worked with dearly.
Homer was a good rabbit hunter, ran good trot lines, and was the worlds best frog hunter. He was a very strong man, but very gentle. He was a good friend, a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a giver and a worker without equal. He will be sorely missed by all.
