Obituary of John "Pete" Percy Jones

View Video Tribute Funeral services for Mr. John "Pete" Percy Jones, 81, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday November 12, 2006 at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Petrus and family friend Mike Goyne officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Jones, retired and a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday November 9, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and an U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a 32 degree Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents, Percy & Lizzie Dear Jones; and stepmother, Aylene Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Jones; daughter & son-in-law, Pat Dew & Larry Dew; granddaughters, Robin Herrington & fiancee James Wiggins, Ginger Hackler & husband Donnie, Pam Gentry; great grandchildren, Josh Banks, Mallory Banks, Savannah Hackler; siblings, Earcell Daniels, Helen & Alvin Price, Betty Jo & Paul Clay, Jeraldine & Dexter Watson, Kay Andrews, Harold "Bunkie" & Moira Jones, Dianne & Allen Nettles, Linda & Travis Rawls, Brenda & Ricky Goodman; stepmother, Marie Jones Sorey; aunt, Ruth "Tuts" Jones. Pallbearers will be Bill Jones, Steve Jones, Kevin Morgan, Greg Morgan, Chris Jones, Keith Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be W.J. Dew, Buddy Hemphill, William Clay, and George Perry.
