Funeral services for Mr. Bill Houck, a resident of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Petrus officiating. Interment will follow in McKnight Cemetery near Holly Ridge. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Houck, who attended Riverside Baptist Church, was a U.S. Navy veteran and an employee for 42 years at International Paper Company, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Morehouse General Hospital. He was an avid bass fisherman throughout his life. He was very family oriented and his happiest moments were spent at home with his children and grandchildren around him.
Mr. Houck is survived by his wife, Doris Houck; daughter, Joan Pugh and husband Mark; son, Steve Houck and wife Pam; three granddaughters, Maura, Megan, Natalie; two step grandsons, Brad and Kenny; brother-in-law, Joe Spence; niece, Donna Kutz and husband Marty and their sons, Joseph and Josh; niece, Jeanie Owens, nephews, Tim Howington, Jimmy Howington and numerous cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Grace Houck; two sisters, Joan Houck Spence, Joyce Houck and mother in-law, Belle Howington.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Howington, Nelson Burchfield, Richard Book, Homer D. Brister, Tim Howington and Joe Spence.
