Obituary of Paul Allen Pomeroy

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Paul Allen Pomeroy, age 83, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Benge officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Pomeroy, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a graduate of Bastrop High School and Louisiana Tech University where he obtained a lifetime teaching certificate. Mr. Pomeroy was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Constabulary Forces in Germany. Mr. Pomeroy was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked in the accounting department of International Paper Company and was the owner of Pomeroy Auto Service. Mr. Pomeroy was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church since 1936. He was a member of the Red Hill Boys singing group and sang in the chancel choir at church since 1955. Mr. Pomeroy was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Mr. Pomeroy is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Helen Pomeroy, and a brother, Webb Donnolly Pomeroy.
He is survived by his dear friends, Robin Baggarly, Scott Baggarly, Meredith Baggarly, Dr. E.D. Baker, his church family, and a host of close friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Robert McCue, Eugene Franklin, T.F. McCarthy, Dr. John Garrett, John Buatt, and Dr. E.D. Baker. Nat Little will be an honorary pallbearer.
